Bob has held senior executive positions in multiple hospital investor owned and not for profit systems in his 35 year career. He focuses on improving quality and financial results through process improvement and cost reduction. His emphasis on physician sensitive strategies has included development of medical staff recruitment plans, management and negotiation of residency affiliation agreements as well as development of WRVU compensation contracts and recruitment for hospital based and independent practices. His efforts in developing service lines has been recognized by the RWJ Foundation, Health Grades and the Studer Group.
His experience includes over 20 years with organized labor including NYSNA, ONA, 1199, SEIU and AFSCME bargaining units. During his career in New York State he developed a regional referral facility serving the Northern Tier of New York state and was part of the team which developed and designed the first new replacement facility in New York State in 30 years. This project included a fully subscribed 225 million debt offering. Bob was the Executive Vice President for a 3 hospital system CH 11 bankruptcy restructuring which included fixed debt restructuring, full satisfaction of the secured creditors obligation and system sale. He remained on as a facility CEO for the investor owned successor improving profitability and clinical outcomes. As CEO of Massena Memorial Hospital (NY), Bob leads the organization effort to improve financial and operating performance while coordinating the facility’s corporate conversion and System Affiliation strategies.
Bob holds a BA from Columbia College of Columbia University and an MAHSA from The George Washington School of Government and Business Administration. He has taken additional coursework in Labor Relations from Cornell University, is Certification eligible for the CPC designation and is a Fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives.
